I qualified as a teacher in 2003, initially teaching in primary education in London. After a couple of years, I stepped into working in a specialist school setting. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed within special education for the rest of my teaching career. I loved the lightbulb moments of teaching and saw first-hand how AAC and Assistive Technology could reduce barriers to learning and open up a child’s world.
I first had the pleasure of working alongside the staff at Ace Centre in 2008 when my school had a service level agreement for the development of staff skills in the use of AT and AAC. After completing accredited training with Ace Centre, supporting learner’s communication skills and access to AT became a real passion for me and was a focus throughout my teaching career.
Here at Ace Centre, I manage the Partnerships and Consultancy service, so staff can access the same career changing knowledge and support I received around the use of AAC and AT with my learners.
